The Stamford Ladies Fundraising Group, nine women whose lives have all been deeply affected by the loss of loved ones cared for at the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough, have embarked on their most ambitious fund-raising event to date.
Having raised several thousand pounds through dinner parties and a cake sale, they are now in the planning stages for the launch of their first Ice Ball, a charity event to be held at Greetham Valley Golf Club on February 8, 2020.
The Ice Ball will include fizz on arrival, a sumptuous three-course meal, a thrilling auction emceed by comedian and entertainer of national renown, Adger Brown, plus a special appearance by X Factor finalist, Nicole Lawrence.
One of the organisers Julie Gay says, ‘We’re really excited about the ball. Adger Brown is an exceptional compère, and avid followers of X-Factor will know that Peterborough’s very own Nicole Lawrence has a voice on par with the world’s finest soul singers.’
She adds, ‘We want this to be a really fab night, and with everything we’ve planned, we’re certain it will be.’
To help promote the event, the group has set up a dedicated website, which is now active and has more information about what to expect on the night and how to get involved.
In addition to selling tickets, The Stamford Ladies Fundraising Group are also keen to connect with local businesses that would like to sponsor the event, and are also looking for auction prize donations.’
‘The Ice Ball presents an excellent opportunity for local businesses to raise their profile in Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire while also doing something positive for the community,’ says Julie. ‘And they will benefit from our publicity surrounding the ball and also get a big mention from Adger on the night.’
The Ice Ball 2020, a black-tie event, takes place on 8 February 2020, at the Greetham Valley Golf Club, and runs from 7pm to 12.30am.
