Local garden centre Cherry Lane – Glebe, has donated £1301 to the Air Ambulance Service.

The store, located on Foston Road in Countesthorpe, raised the funds through sales of its five pence plastic carrier bags and decided to donate the money to a very worthy local cause chosen by the store team.

The Air Ambulance Service flies two regional air ambulances across the counties of Leicestershire, Rutland, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Derbyshire. Its helicopters provide a rapid response to trauma and medical emergencies over an area of 3850 square miles.

Helen Foster, Commercial Director of QD Stores Group which owns Cherry Lane, said: “The sales from our 5p carrier bags have enabled us to provide much needed funds to local charities selected by our store teams. We endeavour to fundraise in as many ways as possible for both local and national charities and this has always been aided by the help and support of our customers.”

Cherry Lane Garden Centres are part of the QD Group, a family run business with 43 stores. It is a very active charity fundraiser. For more information on Cherry Lane, visit
